My twin sister, Yukiko, is the only female in the house.
Our mother died when we were young. As such, she must be protected from any
harm at all cost.

"Oh, come
on! Why can't I go to the
same school as you guys too? That's
not fair!" Akito, the youngest brat in the house whined at the twins.
Yukiko, one of the twins looked at her brother and smiled, albeit a little
troubled with her little brother's tantrum.
"It's obvious, duh! You're still a grade school kid. Why would you be in a high school?"
Fuyuki, the elder of the twin, patted his kid brother's hair, effectively
messing up the young boy's hair in the process. Akito growled in displeasure,
but made no attempt to make his brother stop messing with his hair (as Fuyuki
would just mess it up again if Akito retaliated).
"Fuyuki, let him go already. It's the first day of
school and you're already messing with the kid." Natsumi, the eldest of
the siblings walked out from the gate of their house and reprimanded his
brother. Fuyuki answered with a half-hearted "Yes~" and
immediately let go of his kid brother's head. Yukiko chuckled a little bit,
then, she took her little brother's hand in hers and smiled at him.
"How about this, Aki-chan. We'll walk you to school
every day, and you can hold my hand if you want to. Is that okay with
you?"
"Whaaaaat? Yuki-chan,
that kid is already a 6th grader. He's not a baby anymore, stop spoiling
him!" Fuyuki complained, pinching the younger kid's cheek. Akito whined,
all the while gripping Yukiko's hand tighter, not letting it go. Natsumi
sighed. It's early in the morning and his brothers are already fighting, in the
middle of the street no less.
"Fuyuki, stop it, will you? We'll be late for
the entrance ceremony if we don't go now," Natsumi pulled the neck of
Fuyuki's shirt, and dragged him along with him as he walked in front of them.
Yukiko smiled exasperatedly, and then proceeded to follow her brothers as she
walked hand-in-hand with her youngest brother. Akito pulled out his tongue at
Fuyuki, and shouted a "Serves you right, you idiot!" at his nemesis.
The elder siblings waved at their youngest brother as they
left him at Akito's school, then continued walking toward their high
school - about two kilometres away from the elementary school - with Yukiko. If
it was during the twins' middle school days, Natsumi and Fuyuki would part ways
with their sister halfway to their school because she was entered in a
different middle school (it's an all-girls middle school), in a different
district than theirs. However, starting this year, they've managed to convince
their overprotective father to let her enter the same high school as the
brothers, almost resorting to threats so he'd listen to their (mostly the
twins' - especially Yukiko
herself) demand.
Everything seems fine and well until they're nearing their
destination. As the numbers of students were increasing, so were the numbers of
eyes staring at the trio once they were at the school gate. Yukiko could even
see them whispering something among themselves once those students took a
glance at the siblings. Suddenly feeling uneasy, she moved closer to her
brothers and pulled a little bit at their sleeves, making them stop and turn to
look at their little sister.
"What's wrong, Yuki-chan?" Natsumi asked first,
stared at her for a second, smiled, and then patted her head fondly.
"Ah, are you feeling nervous? Don't worry, I'm here
with you!" Fuyuki smiled at his little sister and hugged her. Somehow,
Yukiko felt as if her back was pierced by several burning glares, but maybe it
was just her. Her brothers looked just fine. She calmed herself down, took
several deep breaths, and smiled at them.
"I was nervous before, but I'm fine now..... I think.
Thanks, Fuyu-chan, Natsu-niichan."
When she was calm and started walking again, she realised
that everyone except them have turned into cold statue. She wondered why.
***
It's been almost a month since Yukiko started high school,
and surprisingly, weird things kept happening to her. First, she got tons of
letters underneath her table. Then, there were lots of flowers and scribbles - some are quite nice, she thought, but Fuyuki winced at her
uncomfortably - decorating her table. Afterwards, things escalated more -
stolen and missing things e.g.: shoes, books, uniform, and stationeries - that
it annoyed her a little, but she kept on her cool and smiled it off, though
Fuyuki looked worried. A part of her mind even started to anticipate what kind
of tricks will happen to her the next day.
But nothing happened anymore the next day, and Yukiko was
disappointed.
"Yuki-chan, your tolerance level is so amazing you're
making me speechless. I wonder if you even realised that you were being bullied."
Fuyuki replied when Yukiko talked to him about it, but Yukiko looked confused.
She even tilted her head, as she stared at her twin, as if the word 'bullied'
never even get registered in her mind.
".....I was bullied? By
whom?"
The light of innocence and saintly virtue made Fuyuki's
eyes hurt. And he forgot that they were in the classroom, full of their
classmates.
Drat, he thought.
That day, the brothers went home looking sour all the way back home.
***
Sometimes, Fuyuki will have soccer practice (apparently
he's the ace of the club) and Natsumi have student council meetings (he's the
president), leaving Yukiko alone after school ended. So whenever there aren't
any special sales going on, she'd wait for her brothers at the soccer field,
watching the soccer club's practices. While the other girls fawned over the
eye-candies in the club, Yukiko usually sat at the nearby bench and quietly
read a book behind them. Sometimes the girls would glare at her when Fuyuki
called her name and she waved at him, but most of the time they'd just ignore
her existence.
Everything was well and fine unless Kaname Kiryuu sneaked
out from the field and then came running toward her to bug her.
"...Kiryuu-kun, you surprised me. I thought I just saw
you running laps around the field, or maybe that was another person?"
Yukiko blinked when she turned her head and saw Kaname's face nearing hers. He
was sitting beside her on the bench, and their bodies were an uncomfortable distance
away from each other.
"You're not wrong. That was me. Then I ran here when
you're not looking." He smiled, and his body moved to shorten their
already short distance from each other. Yukiko blinked her eyes again,
thinking, and then looked sideways. The fawning girls were looking at them,
their eyes glaring, and she saw Fuyuki striding toward them angrily.
"Oh, uhm... is that so...? But, uh, well... I think
you should get back to the field. Look, Fuyu-chan's coming here. He looks
furious. And, uh... you're too
close, Kiryuu-kun." She
pointed toward her brother, but Kaname doesn't seem to care about it as he
continued looking at her.
"Hey, Yukiko, what do you think about me?" He
suddenly asked. With how near his face was with hers, it took her some seconds
before she could answer his question.
"Eh, uhm... You're Fuyu-chan's best friend...?"
Was what popped inside her head first.
"Is that all?" He stared at her. Their eyes met.
"Well, um... You're calm and collected, you're smart,
you're good at sports, you're good looking. Basically you're good in every
department, but you're so eccentric I find it hard to understand you
sometimes." She answered, and his eyes looked like a puppy who just got
abandoned. "Oh, and even though you always acted mature, sometimes you
become childish when you get flustered and I
find that cute," She smiled.
Yukiko heard something snapped, but unfortunately her
attention shifted towards Fuyuki who was just about 3 strides left from them.
It would have been better if she had not looked away from Kaname though, because
the thing that happened a mere second later would then become a horror story
for everyone present at the scene that day.
As fast as lightning, Kaname grabbed Yukiko's head and
smacked their lips together. The girls watching them gasped. And once Kaname
parted lips with Yukiko, he was yanked by his collar from the back; Fuyuki
having turned into a raging god by then. He looked at Yukiko, and she had
turned white as sheet.
"You damned bastard. How. Dare. You. Kissed. My. Sister?!!" Attacking his
maiden sister. In broad daylight. How dare him! Unforgivable!! And he was
supposed to be his best friend!
Kaname blinked at Fuyuki. He wasn't fond of being strangled
on his neck, but the reactions from the twins amused him so much it was worth
the pain.
"What, are you jealous? Then, here." He pulled on
Fuyuki's shirt and kissed him. In the public. Right in front of Fuyuki's
dearest twin. In just less than two minutes he had stolen the twins' first kiss
and he regretted nothing. The always smug Fuyuki was frozen solid on the spot from
the shock, but Yukiko had returned to earth when she saw Kaname kissing her
twin.
".....You're unforgivable! How dare you attack my brother?!"
She had cried.
"Now pray to god you're going to be alive to see the
next sunrise," She had said; her tone suddenly different. Everyone was
surprised, and the force of her voice was so strong Fuyuki immediately snap out
of his stupor and looking worriedly at Yukiko.
To make things short, the day ended with a literal
bloodbath when Yukiko decided to stop being an angel and had turned Kaname into
a lump of meat with her bare hands.
