Day 10 : Khairi Lokman

Khairi Lokman sighed. Ruelle frowned, pulling his sleeves forward as she dragged him away. "What are you sighing for, Kairi! Today, you're going to accompany me shopping!" She pulled him harder. Khairi put his free hand on his face. "My precious holidays... wasted on this stupid girl," He pulled his hand from Ruelle easily and suddenly realized something. "...Wait, why am I the one accompanying you? Where's your caretaker?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

Ruelle folded her arms around her, pouting at him. "Touya have an important thesis to finish by the end of this month, so he's been very busy," Khairi blinked. "...Your little brother?" He stared at her. "Out with your sister," She smiled happily. Khairi almost cursed, but Ruelle stopped him. "She said you already gave permission before she left," She continued. And Khairi remembered nodding sleepily at the little girl when she asked him something this morning. He didn't remember what her little sister said, though.

"Well, don't just stand there. Accompany me, will you? It have been long since we've spend time together, too." She looked at him. Khairi just sighed. Good thing it's winter in Japan right now, he's wearing a thick woolen gloves. Swiftly he smacked her face with his big hand, and quickly passed by her. "Don't look at me like that. Be grateful I'm able to come visit you every year, when you've never visited my place even once." He raised an eyebrow a her, then tried to imitate her pout.

It felt like a jab on her heart. Khairi grinned when he saw his best friend looked so depressed. "Well, that's that. You said you want to shop? Hurry up and walk, I'm freezing now," December in Japan was cold, different than the damp and hot climate in Malaysia. He shivered as he walked. Ruelle smiled when she saw him shiver. "I thought you're already used to this kind of weather? After all, you always come here during winter holidays," She hurriedly walked beside him, following his pace.

Khairi frowned. "Are you an idiot? There's no way I'm getting used to this kind of weather. My country never have four seasons like yours," He blew his hands, trying to warm it. "Besides, this is the only time where I'm free enough to travel," He continued. Ruelle just nodded. When they arrived at a bookstore, Ruelle stopped him. "Here! This is the place that I wanted to go," She pulled him into the bookstore. Khairi sighed. "Ah, another unfortunate books to be her 'furniture' by the end of this week..."

***

It was a coincidence that both of them bumped into their respective little siblings as they exited the bookstore. Khairi twitched a little when he saw his little sister holding hands with Ruelle's little brother. "We were crossing the road," Iman explained, sensing the sudden murderous atmosphere around her brother. "Keishi *nii-chan held my hand so I won't be lost," She continued. Khairi was relieved. "Ah, is that so?" his voice sounded nonchalant, though. But Ruelle was ecstatic.

"So, so cute!!" She squealed as she hugged both her little brother and Iman. "Keishi-chan, so adorable! Both of you are so adorable! Ah, Iman, you're so, so cute!!" She rubbed her cheek against the two little kids, while chanting the word 'cute' and 'adorable' over and over again. Keishi, her little brother was almost safe from her hug, but Iman, the youngest, was sandwiched between Keishi and Ruelle. She almost suffocated to death. "Gross! Hey, Ruelle. Stop that, you idiot! My sister will die!" Khairi shouted.

"*Onee-chan... can't breathe... help!" Keishi yelped. Ruelle finally let them go after she got a hit on the head from Khairi. Rubbing her painful head, she tried to glare at her tormentor, but got anther hit instead. "But, both of you are too cute and adorable! Can't I have another hug again?" She sulked. The answer was a perfectly synchronized "NO!" from the aghast boys. There was no telling what might happen to their little sister if Ruelle managed to hug her again.

Iman coughed a little, she almost chocked her breath. After a few breather, she went to the sulking Ruelle and smiled at her. "Ruelle *onee-sama, thank you. You're very cute, too." She gave her a hug. Ruelle had to try hard not to squish the little girl to death as she hugged her back. Behind Iman, the two boys have been giving her the "Give the little kid mercy, please!" look at her. Ruelle just smiled. "By the way, what are you guys doing here?" Khairi asked Keishi as he looked at the two girls hugging each other.

"Ah, Iman said she wanted to go to the bookstore," He answered, his eyes also focused on his sister, still worried that she might hugged the kid too tightly. "How about you?" It always amazed Khairi too see the icy blue eyes of Keishi's, a different contrast to Ruelle's dark violet irises. Khairi huffed. "A chaperon for your sister instead of you," He answered coldly. Keishi raised an eyebrow. "Touya-nii?" He asked, curious. "Was told that he was busy all month," Khairi replied. Keishi gave a soft hum, remembering how busy their caretaker was lately.

"Iman, you said you wanted to buy something," He called her. "Let's go in first. It's freezing out here," Iman nodded at him, smiling happily. Letting Iman go, Ruelle patted her coat a little before she said; "Ah, then Keishi-chan, we're going first." She pulled Khairi by the arm, dragging him away. Strangely the young man didn't seem to protest, when usually he would have yanked his arm from her back. Maybe he was too busy glaring at the young boy to even care about it... "If even a strand of Iman's hair is lost from her, you're gonna pay."

Keishi just nodded at him. He would do the same if the same thing happened to his elder sister, too. Khairi let Ruelle dragged him until he saw the two kids walked into the bookstore before he yanked his arm from Ruelle back. "Ah, that hurts! Can't you be a little gentler? And when I'm even kind enough to pull you," Ruelle complained. Khairi was annoyed. "Did I ever asked for your help? I know I can walk perfectly," He gave her a soft knock on her forehead. Ruelle pouted.

"This evil man! You kept hitting my head since earlier. Do you have a grudge on me?" Khairi just smirked at her. "Grudge? Yeah, well... I have lots, I guess?" He blew on his gloved knuckles. He gave her an evil look, before he gave a sneer. "Want some more?" He asked as he made some amazingly eerie cracking sounds from his knuckles. Ruelle immediately refused, fearing her head might not just get a bump if he seriously hit her. Despite the thin body, Khairi was a very strong man.

***

It was almost 5 o'clock in the evening by the time they arrived at Ruelle's home, and Khairi was tired. The young woman dragged him all around town, and made him carry all the things she bought. "I'll get you for this..." He muttered under heavy breath. Ruelle grinned at him, happy to see him looking so troubled. "This is revenge!" She said to him. Khairi sighed, before he saw the caretaker walking toward them. Relieved, he quickly passed half of Ruelle's things to the man. "This girl is killing me!" He complained to him.

Touya seemed to sympathize with him. "I know, right? She was so troublesome!" He added, making Ruelle frown in displease. "Hey, if you want to complain, say it straight to me!" She huffed. Both the men looked at each other in surprise, before they turned at her. "Are you sure?" Khairi gave a smirk. "You'll regret it though," Touya gave a sneer. Ruelle blushed. "Both of you are teasing me!" She stomped angrily past them, leaving them laughing at her reaction.

"Ah, this is the best! She only acted like this when you're around," Touya grinned. Khairi chuckled at him. "That's quite a compliment, but are you sure? She never blushed like that when we're together, though." He looked at Touya questioningly. The older male just laughed it off. "...That's a trade's secret," Touya gave him a wink. Khairi wasn't interested, so he just brushed it aside. Just then, Ruelle popped out from the doorway, calling both of them. "Kairi, Touya! What are you guys doing, still outside?"

"Hurry up and come in! The temperature's gonna drop fast and I won't be responsible if you guys freezes to death," She smiled sweetly at them. Khairi gave her a mocking smile before he started to walk toward her, Touya following behind him. "Shut up, you idiot. How about you help us carry these things you bought rather than ordering us around?" Ruelle just chuckled. "Then there'd be no point in my revenge, right?" Khairi huffed, quickly putting her items on the floor and hit her head swiftly.

"There, how's my revenge?" Khairi said in monotone. Ruelle groaned. Touya was aghast. The maids and the butler who came to take Ruelle's things away were gaping their mouth at the scene. "Kairi, you meanie! How many times you've hit me today? What if I become retarded from one of your hits? Besides, I'm a girl!" She cried painfully. Khairi huffed. "Save your crocodile tears for when you're roping Touya to marry you later," he said emphatically. Every one around blushed at the mention of marriage, but Khairi ignored that.

"Besides, you're not just a girl." He patted her head gently. "You're my best friend, right?" He gave her a smile so cute Ruelle couldn't help but blush. "...Darn," She mumbled, before nodding helplessly. Why does every male around her turned out to be such a tease? Especially her best friend. Ruelle sighed, while Khairi smirked haughtily. But everyone around them was beyond shocked though. Khairi Lokman was Ruelle's only friend and best friend, so he was respected in the whole house. Yet to even manage to make their hyper-positive young lady sigh...

"What?" Khairi looked at them icily. They've been staring at him for a while now. He felt something unpleasant from their look, and turned to leave the place. He didn't realize that actually, the whole household were only admiring him secretly though.
