From the moment he knew how to think, the crown prince of Colton Empire, Prince Edward knew his fate is to serve the ladies. He praises any lady his eyes could spot, be it the kitchen maids or even the ugly powdered madams loitering around the castle. His so-not-cute little brother, Prince Lui called him a 'perverted playboy', but he preferred to be called a 'gentleman'. Truthfully, he adores every woman ever born in the world, with the exception of one; his wife, Princess Luna Radiata of Twilight.
"My lord, don't do this!" or "My lord, don't do that!" and "My Lord, just don't!" were her constant words to him, followed by an exasperated sigh from her. He's the one who wanted to sigh with exasperation at her! God, she was so annoying! She acted just like a nagging mother, when she knew full well that he's a full fledged adult already. He wanted a sweet wife, someone who wouldn't nag for hours, someone who didn't act like an angry old woman. Just how in the world did he get roped into marrying her?!
"My lord, you shouldn't pout. It's unbecoming of a crown prince." His vein popped. The nagging woman has arrived. He looked at her with a doom looming on top of his head. And sure enough, she was frowning at him, looking displeased. Not a hint of smile formed on her face. Edward clicked his tongue. Now, Prince Edward was a ladies man, on top of being a gentleman. He would even consider the ugliest female ogre on earth as lovely as long as she can smile. But his bride, lovely and pretty as she was, never smiled at him.
"Yeah, yeah, continue nagging to the end of the world. See if I ever care," He muttered under his breath. Luna shot him an annoyed glance. Quickly, she pulled her husband's ear, earning a shriek from Edward. "Yes, you will care about it. A prince can't frown in front of his subjects. You'll make them uneasy," She lectured. "Owowowow, stop it Luna! I know, I know! It hurts! Luna!!" He panicked. He felt that any more longer and his ear gonna come off from his head. Satisfied, Luna finally let go of his ear.
"If you understand, good. And one more thing, my lord..." Edward was almost in tears. She's not his wife. She's a monster in his wife's clothes. Treating her husband like this.... "A prince shouldn't yelp like a loser, I know. But try being in my shoes! I thought my ear is going to fall off if you didn't stop!" He whined as he rubbed his injured ear. "Seriously, Luna. All you ever do is nag me to death. Have you ever thought of my feelings at all?" Darn it, why all of a sudden was he throwing a tantrum like a child? He's an adult already!
Despite the sudden outburst of feelings, Luna kept silent, imploring the prince to continue. "Saying things like 'Don't do this,' or 'You shouldn't act like that,' like a school teacher. Who do you think I am, a child?" At that moment Luna was trying to interrupt, "My lord, I never-" but Edward kept going on and talking. "You know what? I don't know why I even married you, when you're the type of woman that I hate the most. Always nagging, frowning, and never smile at all! Are you even my wife?"
Bam!
Edward stopped when he heard the door to his office slammed open, and his little brother looked at both of them with a stunned expression. "...Ah, sorry. Did I interrupt you both?" He said, feeling guilty for whatever he did. "No, Lui. You didn't interrupt anything. I was just about to leave," Luna replied calmly. Then, turning her face toward Edward, she said; "My lord, I never once think of you as a child. You're my husband, and I just wanted you to be a prince your country can be proud of. I never thought my constant talk would be such a burden to you. For that, I'm sorry."
As she turned to leave, she frowned a little. "Oh, and I forgot. It's not that I never smiled, but whenever I did, you were never there to see it," She gave a smirk. "Well, it's not like you ever did anything to deserve a smile from me, though." Her footsteps seemed to echo with every step she took to leave from his office. Prince Lui looked nervous when he looked at his sister-in-law. "Did you two have a fight? She was crying," he asked, looking worried as he glanced from the place where Luna left to his brother's face.
"...Leave her be. I don't think she wanted any company right now," He huffed, trying to look cool. Instead, his insides felt like it was being stabbed with hundreds of needles, bleeding, and then wrenched tightly. He felt miserable. Was he too harsh on her just now? That's why she cried...? While Lui was busy explaining something to him, Edward just listened with half-hearted interest. "...So brother, hey! Are you even listening to me? Your eyes aren't even looking at me!" Lui waved in front of his brother, angry for being ignored.
Edward unconsciously sighed. "...What should I do, Lui? I've made a lady upset," he said, depressed. Lui was emphatic at the prince's problems. "You said it like you never did it, idiot." He smacked the paper in his hand at his brother's head. "But why did you ask me? You know I'm not knowledgeable enough about these kind of things to give you any advice," Lui raised an eyebrow. Edward sighed again. "You're right. A shy boy in puberty like you will never knew the way to please a lady," He grinned at the younger prince.
Embarrassed by his brother's comments, he slammed the papers to Edward's face before stomping out from Edward's office. "If you have time to tease me, you might as well think hard how to make up with Princess Luna! By the way, if you make her cry again I'll make sure to turn you into a Eunuch!" He threatened. Edward felt a shiver went down his spine. Lui can said the scariest thing when he's angry. Somehow his little brother has become quite attached to his wife... Edward sighed. If only his mother was still alive, Edward crossed that thought. The late queen will probably took on the princess's side, because she loves girls.
Still.... "...What should I do, mother?" He left an exasperated sigh.
***
Edward was annoyed. For a few days after their fight, Luna kept ignoring him. She didn't even come to his office to nag him like usual. But that's not what make him annoyed, though. He was annoyed about the fact that he felt weird when she didn't nag him, when it would be his bliss before this if he didn't hear her shrill voice lecturing him everyday. He frowned. "My lord, is something wrong?" He never thought he would be so disappointed when the one who was talking to him was not his bride. He felt his energy was draining slowly.
"It's nothing. I think I'm a bit tired right now. Can you leave me alone for a while? I need a breathe of fresh air," He smiled at his subordinate. The officer just laughed it off heartily. "Well, being cooped in here for long hours definitely will make your head muddled. I'll be taking my leave, then, Your Highness." He gave a curt bow before he left the prince alone. Resting his head on his hand, Edward though about what he should do, when suddenly he heard the sound of laughing outside his office. The voice was oddly familiar...
Immediately, he rushed from his table toward the door, opening it harshly. Everyone around was surprised by his sudden exit, and one of the castle maid accidentally dropped her feather duster. Edward turned left and right, the sound of laughing still floating around his ears. He clenched his teeth. He never heard her laugh, but he knew the voice was his wife's! "Damn it! It's just a few days, why am I getting excited by her voice?" He muttered as he walked toward the direction of the voice. And true enough, there was Luna, chatting happily with Lui.
"Really? I can't believe it!" She chuckled a little, and Edward saw a smile formed on his bride's pretty face. Lui grinned proudly. "Believe me! Even I never thought that idiot would ever be so stupid, but then-" He stopped when he saw his brother standing just a few meters from them. Edward was glaring at him, with murderous aura hovering around him. Thinking that his life might be threatened this time, Lui immediately bowed to his sister-in-law before he ran away from the scene. Luna was left behind, feeling confused.
"Luna," Edward called her name moodily. He doesn't know why he felt so angry. He knew that Luna and Lui were just chatting, but the fact that Luna smiled at his little brother somehow unnerved him. Why? Maybe he should ask his wise wife. He saw that the smile she had before has turned into a frown when she realized who's the one calling her name. His heart throbbed painfully. What in the world happened to him? Why was he feeling like this? He need an answer fast, or he might become insane from thinking too much.
"...What?" Luna raised an eyebrow, almost glaring. Edward felt his heart sink. She was never this hostile at him before! "Uh, um, well, you haven't... come to my office for a while now..." Edward mumbled. He was never this tongue-tied in his life before, so why when she's in front of him, did he stutter like a bumbling idiot? Edward felt like digging a hole and hide in it forever. The sharp gaze from Luna make him more nervous. "I thought you didn't like to listen to me nagging at you?" She asked, stabbing right at Edward's heart.
"But I never said you can't come see me..." He replied, but the answer was so out of topic...
"And you said you hate the type of woman like me the most...?" Another harsh blow to his already wounded heart. This woman was actually quite heartless..! Edward felt like crying already, but still he tried to look cool. "A prince can't show his weaknesses in front of his subjects," He remembered Luna said to him once. Slowly he grabbed her hand, gently touching her face. "But I never said I hate you?" He stroked her hair. Soft. He smiled at her tenderly. Luna turned her face away from his hand, and Edward saw a hint of blush on her cheek. For the first time, he felt giddy.
"...Then, why-!" Luna stopped when Edward suddenly kissed her. "Look, Luna. I'm sorry, alright? I shouldn't say that to you. I regretted it very much. So can you forgive me?" He kissed her knuckles, he kissed her cheeks, he kissed her forehead... Luna felt like fainting. She was blushing heavily. "Let me go..." By that time, she was so embarrassed she thought she could die. But Edward wasn't going to let her go until he's satisfied. "If you accept my apology, then I'll let you go," He smiled. But Luna snapped and slapped his hand furiously.
"When I said 'Let me go,' it meant exactly. Let. Me. Go! Can't you understand?" Her shrill voice echoed throughout the whole castle, shocking Edward. She almost started to preach him again before he decided to close her mouth with both his hands. "Wait, Luna! I'm sorry, okay? Just say you forgive me and then I'll let you go!" He whispered while looked at the surrounding. There's no one else here. Good. Edward sighed in relief. Angered, Luna bite Edward's fingers as hard as she can. Edward shrieked. "Luna!!" He yelled her name.
Luna was emphatic. Turning to leave Edward, Luna huffed indignantly. "Fine, I'll forgive you this time." She glanced back at her husband behind her. "...Well, the next time you make me upset, I might tell Lui to turn you into a Eunuch as revenge," She sneered. Edward smiled, relieved when his bride wasn't upset at him anymore, but the moment he realized her threat he immediately shivered. "...Luna? You're not serious... right?" He asked, seriously scared of her right now. Luna did not reply, and just gave him an innocent angel's smile.
Edward wanted to blush. He really wanted to. But his wife's threat somehow scared him much more. He sighed, trying to calm his nerves and not act like a loser prince. Putting an arm around Luna's shoulders, Edward whispered softly at her ear; "...But Luna, if I become a Eunuch then how will we get children?" Luna quickly whipped her head back, blushing and frowning all at the same time. Edward pulled a poker face, trying to look as innocent as he could. She looked like she was about to nag at him, the content he already knew, but she only got as far as opening her mouth, her real words abandoned.
".....I'll be leaving first, my lord..." She murmured shyly, before she turned her body to walk away. Edward noted that the way she was walking away was so weird, he almost laughed at her. All his life, Edward have been a ladies man, someone born to please the ladies around him. He praises any lady his eyes could spot, be it the kitchen maids or even the ugly powdered madams loitering around the castle. His so-not-cute little brother, Prince Lui called him a 'perverted playboy', but he preferred to be called a 'gentleman'.
Truthfully, Prince Edward adores every woman ever born in the world, but he never thought of his wife; Princess Luna Radiata of Twilight as adorable before. And now he can't think of anyone as adorable as her!

Some extras :
The next time Edward saw Lui, the young man almost ran away in fright. But on further explaining, Edward found out something he never thought Luna ever had.
"Princess Luna was actually quite an avid fan of gossips and rumors." Lui said, emotionless. "She was most interested if the rumor involved some... boys love... between our officials..." He looked sideways as he said it. His expression unreadable. Edward's mouth gaped. He never thought...
"Well, keep this a secret, okay? She's trying to hide it from you, so if she knew I told you this she won't let me see another day anymore!" And Edward, shocked as he was, closed his mouth and just nodded. Then he gulped. He just hoped that somehow he'll forget he ever heard this shocking news, or he might suffer the same fate as what Lui described...
