Manga Review : Kingyo Sou

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum, Hello, Konnichiwa, Kamsahamnida, Halo, Ola!

Okay, I'm seriously bored. But I don't have any idea what kind of crazy things I should do here. So I  decide to do some manga reviews. This thing has been on my mind for quite a while, but it always stopped in the middle. So here's my first review which shines on the manga named (Kingyo Sou) by Fujitsuka Yuki.

This girl's name is Asuka. The main character.
Description : From Aerandria Scans:

In the spring of her second year in high school, Asuka sees Masami playing Japanese drums in a festival, and she falls in love with him. However, Masami is deaf, and he has locked his heart in a world without sound. And thus, the two’s melancholic love miracle quietly begins. This is a pure love story in the middle of summer that will make your heart ache.

~***~

Of course, it being a shoujo manga usually means romance, but what make this series stands out was the fact that it deals with the handicapped, which, of course, something not easy to do. But fortunately, the author was quite a genius, so she was able to capture(I think) the budding romance and the hardship that comes with it beautifully.

I particularly like the main character, Asuka. She was such a positive and energetic girl. And what's more, she was a very tolerant girl, trying her hardest to make sure Masami doesn't get hurt from her actions. Well, sometimes she does acts childish, which results to disastrous things happening, but that's just plot devices so we could feel the depth of the stories.

The man above is Masami!
And Masami was also a great character. At first, he was a slightly bitter person, but that was only because he felt he was the only one different from everyone (he was the only hear-impaired in his family). Thankfully Asuka comes to save? the rescue! Without her, maybe Masami would break faster as times goes by.

The support of a family was very important in a story which covers about something like this. And so we have Masami's little brother, Asuka's so called best friend and part-time cupid. Haha. As well as his brother ans Asuka, he also plays the taiko, although not as fanatic as them both. Attention though : he has a big brother complex so never try to make his brother cry or he'll hit you real hard!

That's right! Taisei on the upper right ^^
Over the course of the series, there were many times misunderstanding happens, but that never stopped Asuka from loving Masami more and more! The comedies are quite good, so people won't feel too bored reading the manga. All in all, this is a very good read, and I really recommended this for those who loves a manga based on the character development and not the romance. Well..... not really, since the characters in this story developed from their romance experience..... (Okay, I hope this make sense) And we could learn about Japanese instrument, too! Namely : Taiko (links : Wikipedia). In Malaysia, the term "taiko" usually refers to big boss of a gangster, though.

My mind rating : (4.5/5) I'm not totally hooked, but I'm not too indifferent to it either. Since the series ended early, it was quite a good rating to get(?)

Okay, until then! Mata Ashita ^^
