".....I hate it..." I crumpled my test paper. My body was shaking. I looked at her with hate. She was laughing at me, just because my score was lower than her!
"What is it, Miki? Are you jealous of me?" Rina's face rose higher. She flapped her test paper right in front of me, trying to show off. "Look, perfect score. Again! And you? Only 90%?" She laughed mockingly. If I was not a good kid I would have punched her already.
"Argh! So annoying, that Rina!" I slammed my fist on my pillow as if it was a punching bag. Right after I arrived home, I immediately went to my room and tossed all of my things on the bed. There was nothing looking like a girly thing in my room except the make-up table my mother bought for my birthday last year.
"Just wait, Rina. There's still another exam in another two months. At that time, I'll have my revenge and it'll be my turn to laugh at you!!" I laughed hysterically. Downstairs, my mother was shouting at me to shut up. I immediately stopped laughing when she threatened to not giving me any dinner if I do not stop laughing like a madman at once.
For the past two months, I studied like the apocalypses is coming. I was quite grateful that my best friend and neighbor, Zen still invited me to play basketball with him or my head will explode from too much studying. Besides, being a chivalrous person that I am, I cannot stand it if anybody try to tick me off.
"Hey, why are you being so mad about her anyway? It was just an exam. I don't think that you minded about it too much," Zen asked after we playing playing basketball. It ended in a draw. Being reminded about Rina, my mood turned sour as quick as lightning.
"As you have said, I don't mind much about the exam result. But the fact that she looked down at me...!" I clenched my fist. "That nose! That high-and-mighty snobbish nose....! Ugh! I just so wanna see it down!" I started to laugh evilly. Zen just sighed tiredly. "You're so crazy," he said.
Then the day of the examination came. It was an unfortunate day for me yesterday, because I caught a fever I could not study at all. But that rest was what I needed the most at that time, and after resting all day yesterday, I felt very refreshed. I already studied everything beforehand and all I need right now is a bit of reading.. Rina was studying, but she looked flustered as she opened through the books.
The exam was a piece of cake. I smiled at every questions I read. When I glanced at Rina, sometimes she would be smiling, but most of the time she was not. I wondered what happened to her. After the exam was finished, Rina looked pale. So I approached her.
"Rina, what happened? Are you alright?" I asked her. She was very surprised that I asked her. But then she humphed, put on her arrogant mask, and hung her nose high in the air. "Of course I am all right. Just who do you think I am?" She said. Then, turning her body away from me, she started to walk off haughtily.
I clenched my fist. "Oh, you little...!" I left out a big breath. Good thing I managed to calm myself down. "Don't worry, don't worry. This time you will be okay, Miki!" I patted myself. Then I smiled.
A week later, the exam results were shown. Rina looked happy when she got her paper. I already took mine, but I still had not taken even a peek at it. When nobody was looking, I secretly took a glance at my test paper.
"What are you looking at?" Rina's voice shocked me. Then she, as usual, put her pinocchio nose high up in the air. "Look, I got 99%, even though there were many who got less than 80%. How much do you get?" She asked, flapping her test paper in front of my face.
I stared blankly at her test paper. For a while, unbelievably. Then I blinked my eyes. This is unbelievable! I started to chuckle. Then I grinned devilishly at her. Rina was taken aback by my grins.
"What, just 99%?" I looked at her haughtily. Then I showed her my test paper. "Look, full marks! Flying colors!" I said proudly. Rina was beyond shocked. Her body was trembling before she slumped to the ground. "....No way..." I heard her mutter weakly as I laughed.
"It's higher than yours!" I said the obvious and then, the moment I have been waiting for came. Her high nose, her snobbish, haughty nose finally went down! Ah, this is bliss! I was extremely happy. Finally, I have achieved my greatest triumph.
