This is my first post after two weeks ignoring.... Well, whatever. By the way, today's post is about a manga called La Corda D'oro by Kure Yuki, translated as The Golden Strings. If some of you are anime lovers or have Animax on their channel, I think they know about this series. It's a story about Kahoko Hino, a redheaded normal girl suddenly becomes a participant in her school's music competition after she met a Fata i.e fairy named Lily. The anime ends with an open ending(means she didn't end up with a boy among the participants), but the manga is. The author continues this story and she make Kahoko falls in love with another violin player named Tsukimori Len. But the thing is, just when both of them realized their feelings to each other(they know they like the other person, but don't know their partner's feelings. Typical dense partnership like them are common, meh.) Len is going to Europe to pursue music more. Well, that's the story so far. And this chapter tells about the night before Kahoko performing for another music competition but this time, it's not the school's concour.
Note: This is a manga so reading are from right to left but the pictures are arranged from left to right beacuse I misplaced it. Enjoy and click for larger views!
Story:
The chapter starts with Ryoutarou finishing playing the piano. Everyone claps and happy about the performance. Afterwards, they all rave about Ryoutarou’s performance. Aoi tells Yunoki that he should have woke him early too, so that he can go with them. Yunoki apologizes then says that it is Kahoko’s turn tomorrow. Kahoko tells them not to give her anymore pressure. They talk as they walk home about not being able to say ‘congrats’ to Ryoutarou since he is very busy. They hope that they can do so tomorrow. At home, Kahoko takes out a dress and says that she wore it during the first competition within the school and it has a lot of memories for her. She starts to become nervous. She looks at a paper bag and remembers Len saying that it has nothing to do with him. Kahoko blushes. Then, at Len’s house, Len has just finished reading a book. He looks out the window and then, he looks surprised. Kahoko is standing out the gate. She wonders if she is going to cause trouble if she stands outside the gate like that. But, she has already decided to give it today so she ought to ring the doorbell.
You might not know it, but the one who called her is Ryoutarou. They ask each other why they are there. Ryoutarou says that he went to buy something but what about her for she has such a lonely face. Kahoko is surprised by this. They tell each other that they shouldn’t be walking alone at night. Ryoutarou says that he is okay but she has a competition tomorrow. Ryoutarou presses her as to what happened but Kahoko won’t tell him. She forces herself to smile and congratulate him for his excellent performance. Ryoutarou looks surprised then he smiles. He pinches her nose and tells her not to force herself. He then teases her that she has an interesting face. Kahoko exclaims for him not to be like that and he apologizes to her. In the last scene, it seems that Len has seen@overheard them.
Story Ends
That's it for this chapter. I just can say that I'm really happy that Len and Kahoko finally make a move, even though Len is going abroad the next day. If you look carefully, Len closes his eyes when he refused Kahoko's wish to play for her occasionally. Why do you think is that? For me, he did that because he doesn't want to see Kahoko's pained@sad expression. And maybe because he doesnt want to add the stress to Kahoko because she has a competition tomorrow. I just hope Len at least go to see her performance before he takes the flight. (^_^) Sorry if somebody has read the RAWs somewhere and thought that my translations are wrong and crappy. I can't read Chinese so I just translate this from kat's (really)detailed summary as basis.
